Petra Staubach started her career as a pharmaceutical assistant in laboratories of different companies, e.g. Procter & Gamble (1980-90). She began her medicine studies in 1990 and graduated in 1996 as Medical Doctor from the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. In 1996, was an assistant physician at the Department of Dermatology of the University Hospital in Mainz: in 2003 in Allergy, in 2004 as a senior physician including responsibility for the educational student program.

Since 2004 she works intensively in inflammatory dermatological diseases including all patients' subtypes of atopic eczema, urticaria, angioedema, psoriasis, acne inversa, and mastocytosis. Additionally, since 2014 she started offering a specialized out clinic for skin diseases in children.

She is head of the Clinical Research Dermatology University Medical Center Mainz as a PI (Investigator-initiated Trials, Phase I-IV, medical products, diagnostics, epidemiological studies) in all dermatological fields (inflammatory dermatological diseases, allergy, aesthetics, phlebology, oncology).

She is also a member of different international societies and guideline panels. Besides several published papers she is a member of different advisory boards "inflammatory diseases", a leading member of the urticaria network, and coauthor of two urticaria advice booklets for patients.
