
Mitch Shannon
Mitch Shannon is the Publisher and co-founder (with Allan Ryan) of Chronicle Companies, which will celebrate its 25th year in 2020. From locations in Toronto and Buffalo, N.Y., Chronicle produces journals, periodicals, books, digital media and live events for Dermatologists, as well as other medical specialists including Neurologists, Psychiatrists, Pediatricians, Respirologists and Family Doctors. Among the company’s brands and imprints are: The Chronicle of Skin & Allergy, The Chronicle of Cosmetic Medicine & Surgery, Women in Dermatology, the annual Skin Spectrum Summit ethnodermatology conference series (www.skinspectrum.ca), the www.derm.city web portal, Linacre’s Books, and the new Canadian Journal of Medical Cannabis. The company organizes the annual Canadian National Pharmaceutical Congress, now in its 14th iteration. Mitch has Education and Arts degrees from the University of Toronto, and studied graduate Journalism at the University of Oregon. He began his career as a medical writer in New York City and Toronto with the acclaimed MD Magazine, founded by Dr. Felix Marti-Ibanez. He is the author of “Healthcare Babylon,” a collection of essays on the pharmaceutical industry’s efforts to adjust to the new millenium. Mitch has navigated various digital (née “Internet”, née “online”) booms and busts since the 1990s, and maintains a first-responder’s sang froid regarding the approaching collision of technology and healthcare.
