Dr. Sonja Molin

Dr. Sonja Molin is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Division of Dermatology, Department of Medicine at Queen’s University. Dr. Molin completed her training in Dermatology and Allergology at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany, where she worked for 11 years before she joined Queen’s University in 2018. The main focus of her clinical expertise and research are inflammatory skin diseases, mainly hand eczema and psoriasis, contact allergy and occupational dermatology. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has been awarded a number of research prizes. Dr. Molin is an author of the 2022 update of the European Society of Contact Dermatitis guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of hand eczema and is also involved with the American Society of Contact Dermatitis.

The case at hand: the chronic hand eczema landscape in 2022

Chronic hand eczema can have a severe impact on quality of life. Although there has been a paucity of approved therapies focused on this condition, there have recent updates to international guidelines and there are a variety of ongoing clinical development programs investigating new treatments. This session will review disease background and burden, the latest guideline updates, and briefly discuss emerging therapies to ensure attendees have the most current information on chronic hand eczema management.

 

Objectives: 

  1. Review the definition, incidence, and disease burden of chronic hand eczema, highlighting the impact on both patients and to society
  2. Describe the latest guideline updates related to the prevention and management of chronic hand eczema
  3. Discuss treatment options and the potential future treatment landscape in light of currently available data
