Dr. Andrei Metelitsa

Dr. Andrei Metelitsa is a board-certified dermatologist in both Canada and the United States and serves as Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Calgary and Co-Director of Beacon Dermatology.
He graduated from medical school at the University of Alberta at the age of 23. He further received 5 years of dermatology training at the University of Alberta. After completing his residency, Dr. Metelitsa pursued an additional 1-year fellowship in Lasers and Cosmetic Surgery in Boston, Massachusetts at SkinCare Physicians under the direction of world-renowned faculty from Harvard and Yale.
Dr. Metelitsa is an author of a dermatology book (Stedman’s Illustrated Dictionary of Dermatology Eponyms), as well as more than 50 book chapters and articles combined. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences and events, and has been interviewed by multiple newspapers, radio channels, as well as television networks, including CBC, Global and CTV. He also acts as a Reviewer for major dermatology journals, including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, and the Journal of Rheumatology. He is a Contributing Editor for Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Metelitsa has received more than 35 academic, research, leadership and volunteer awards throughout his career. For his leadership, he has been honoured with the prestigious Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Resident Leadership Award, University of Alberta Alumni Award of Excellence, and Canadian Dermatology Association Residents and Fellows Society Resident Teacher Award.

Game Face: Canadian Real-World Acne Edition

Join us for Game Face, a dermatologist’s game night favourite! With the evolving acne treatment landscape and the recent Health Canada approval of the acne therapy clascoterone, come navigate the gameboard and explore the real-world use of current acne treatments.

Meet our Players: Dr. John Kraft, Dr. Andrei Metelitsa and Dr. Dimitrios Kyritsis, who will be guided through the gameboard by our Host, Dr. Geeta Yadav.

How to Play: Players will roll the dice to build their acne patient profile on the board of patient characteristics. As our players move through the gameboard and build their acne patient profile, they will provide insight into their experience treating acne in Canada, including the use of clascoterone. Dr. Yadav will guide players through the game as they present and discuss their patient cases. The audience will have an opportunity to play through the Q&A at the conclusion of the session.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand and describe the clascoterone phase 3 and extension trial data, and how it can be applied to the Canadian acne treatment landscape
  2. Gain perspective and understanding into the real-world treatment of acne with clascoterone based on the experience of Canadian dermatologists

Description: This presentation will present dermatologists practicing aesthetic dermatology and/or medical dermatology with an update on methoxyflurane and its real-world application in a variety of dermatological procedures.
