
Dr. Andrei Metelitsa
Dr. Andrei Metelitsa, FRCPC, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist in both Canada and United States and is currently Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Calgary. He graduated from medical school at the University of Alberta, Canada at the age of 23. He further received a 5-year dermatology training at the University of Alberta. After completing his residency, Dr. Metelitsa pursued an additional 1-year fellowship training in Lasers and Cosmetic Surgery in Boston, Massachusetts at SkinCare Physicians under the direction of world-renowned faculty from Harvard and Yale. His main cosmetic interests include use of non-invasive techniques including fillers and neuromodulators (Botox and Dysport), as well as non-invasive body contouring, tattoo removal, and fractional resurfacing. In fact, he was the first physician in Canada to launch Dysport to cosmetic physicians across the country and is a frequent invited speaker at numerous cosmetic meetings. His medical interests include skin cancer, acne and psoriasis. Dr. Metelitsa is currently involved in a number of clinical trials investigating new treatments for these conditions.
Dr. Metelitsa is an author of a dermatology book (Stedman’s Illustrated Dictionary of Dermatology Eponyms), as well as more than 40 book chapters and articles. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences and events and has been interviewed by multiple newspapers, radio channels, as well as television networks, including CBC, Global and CTV. He also acts as a reviewer for major dermatology journals, including Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, among others.
Dr. Metelitsa has received more than 35 academic, research, leadership and volunteer awards throughout his career. For his leadership, he has been honoured with the prestigious Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Resident Leadership Award, University of Alberta Alumni Award of Excellence, and Canadian Dermatology Association Residents and Fellows Society Resident Teacher Award. He was also chosen to attend the American Academy of Dermatology Leadership Forum for future Leaders. For his research, Dr. Metelitsa has been awarded the Pacific Dermatology Association Victor Newcomer Young Investigator Award, the North American Clinical Dermatologic Society Research Award, as well as multiple University of Alberta research awards. He continues to be heavily involved in numerous clinical trials investigating novel treatments and devices.
