Canadian Clinical Practice Guideline for the Management of Acne
Acne may lead to emotional distress and physical scarring. The acne vulgaris clinical guideline was developed by a group of Canadian Dermatologists and is intended for use by healthcare providers, specifically nurses, pharmacists, family physicians, pediatricians, obstetricians/gynecologists and dermatologists caring for acne patients .
The evidence based recommendations are available to support clinical practice. Three categories of acne severity are discussed: Comedonal acne, mild-to-moderate papulopustular acne and severe acne . These recommendations will be discussed together with measures for implementation of the guidelines.
Early diagnosis, as well as treatment and preventative measures may improve the health of the many Canadians suffering from this burdensome skin disease.
